WELCOME TO
BORDEN'S ORCHARD
Our Family Farm
Our present farm consists of 776 acres in the town of Easton in Washington County and is owned by a closed family corporation. The first parcel of land (23 acres) was purchased by Smith Borden in 1837. Since then each generation has added to the farm which is now believed to be made up of some 18 parcels of land. Oscar A., the “O.A.” of our name, was the fourth generation owner. Currently the fifth, sixth, and seventh generations are operating the farm.
In our orchards, we grow over 25 different apple varieties as well as pears, plums, and occasionally peaches. Old apple favorites include Northern Spy, Pound Sweet, and Cortland. New varieties include Paulared, Ginger Gold, Gala, and Honeycrisp. Our cider is made on our own mill in the back section of our store. Our cold-air storage can hold up to 8000 bushels and allows us to offer quality fruit up until at least March and often later!
In our store we also offer other local farm products such as potatoes, honey, and maple syrup. There is New York State cheese and hard to find jams and jellies. We offer fruit gift baskets and apple shipping in season.
We also have a dairy farm with 375 cropped acres, 170 milking cows, and 140 heifers and calves. Our milk is sold to Stewart’s and becomes part of the products available locally in Stewart’s Shops.
Currently there are 8 Bordens involved in our farm operation, 4 full-time and 4 part-time, as well as several neighbors and friends. We hope that you enjoy the “fruits of our labor.”
